Who You Gonna Call?

Been a few days. I needed to give myself a little break. Well, a break from writing nightly posts anyways. I was hyper-focusing on things outside my control. Once I knew that the world was no longer on the brink of imploding, I relaxed. I put some attention into my Linux studies, drawing, the workbench, and the Ecto-1 model.

Having something small, tangible, and clear to focus on is so recuperating. Working on the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Build-up by Eaglemoss is not a short-term project. The estimate is that the build will take three years. The model is 1:8 scale of the actual car. It is largely comprised of metal die cast parts, plastic, rubber, and electronics. That’s right, it has working lights and sirens.

Eaglemoss doesn’t ship the model in a single kit. Instead, builders subscribe to the model and portions are shipped in issues. Each issue comes with a set of parts and guide that also contains some trivia from the movie. A lot of that extra information was dug up during researching the car. Fun reading.

I’ve already received my first 4 issues. Below is the work completed so far:

Putting this together settled me down quite a bit. Having a workbench ready for me to do this type of detail focused work was really great to have. I’m finding that I am more concerned for the up keep of that space. Maybe I’ll be more attentive to the upkeep of my mind, too.
