This is the last night sleeping under the Presidency of Donald J Trump. What a relief. I just need to sleep through the night. So much of this country held its breath for four years. Some had it knocked out of them and were never able to catch a breath since this presidency started. Still others have been huffing the fumes from this presidency and haven’t smelled fresh air for a long time. Their supply is about to run out.
As I have said in the past for presidents that I have voted for and who won the election, “I look forward to this president disappointing me.” No one that has ever held that office has lived up to their campaign promises. Many have been at least good people while pursuing their ambitions and governing this country. Trump, though, has set a bar so low for poor leadership and wholly reprehensible behavior that the wrong person to hold the office next could damage the country for generations. A second Trump term would certainly have done that.
A Biden presidency, on the other hand, will hopefully course correct much of the damage the was done over the past four years. There is damage to the populace that will take generations to undo. I can only hope we will survive the revolts that will happen in fits for the next several years.
Tonight, sleep will be restless. Tomorrow night, sleep will be restful.
